We are a bakery and cafe located in the Manchester area of RVA and offer dine-in, take-out, and catering.
Our restaurant concept was started very simply in our home kitchen, playing around with different bread recipes. We kept coming back to wild-yeast fermented sourdough - you just can't find the complex layers of flavor like this in commercial yeast products. And there's something about the thousands of years of history in the making of sourdough breads that appeals to our sense of mystery and being connected to the past.
After landing on our sourdough starter, we moved on to testing out different versions of focaccia breads, the ancient-Etruscan predecessor to pizza. Translated from Roman as "hearth bread," we have experimented with topping, toasting up, and stuffing these delicious breads as the cornerstone of our menu.
We're partnering with local farmers and purveyors as much as possible to bring out the best in our baked goods and also in our communities and are excited to share our collective creations with you!
